Denis, Hélène

In 1977, Hélène bought her first bulldog in England. At that time, there were not many. She was granted her prefix DU QUARRYLANE COTTAGE and bred her first litter puppies in 1980.

In 1987 her kennel was granted by the SCC the title “Elevage sélectionné par la Société Centrale Canine. Since then she has bred or owned champions. Since 1991 Hélène is a qualified by the SCC to judge bulldogs at International level.

She is now a judge for several brachycéphalic breeds including the CONTINENTAL BULLDOGS She has judged several times at the CHAMPIONNAT DE FRANCE, the EUROPEAN SHOW in Paris and the WORLD SHOW and many international shows in different countries. In England she is on the list “A1 Overseas specialist” for bulldogs and she can award CCs. She was also granted by the AKC her license number.

In 1992, Hélène was elected President of the Club du Bulldog (Chair woman), a position she still has. She is also Vice President of the Committee of the SOCIÉTÉ CANINE DE LORRAINE and the SHOW MANAGER at their annual championship show in Metz. In 2015, she was elected on the board of the FRENCH KENNEL CLUB and is currently Vice President. She is in charge of the SHOW COMMISSION in France.

As a President – breeder - owner- judge she is very involved and she takes her judging very seriously as the responsibility of a judge is huge for the welfare, health, well-being and the future of the breeds. The judge’s decisions have a repercussion on the future of a breed. Granting the highest rewards to a dog has the effect of distinguishing it for breeders, owners and exhibitors who will see the model and the breeders will tend to produce the type of dog that wins in exhibitions.

Many of our beloved breeds are currently under attack from all sides by extremists. It is our duty to protect these wonderful breeds. Judges have a special duty to promote the best by choosing the best representatives of the breed: typical and healthy.
