Weber-Martegani, Silvia

What is needing to be a good judge? In first time a big love to dogs, but also a great knowledge to the cynology, a good eye and an excellent knowledge about the anatomic of dogs and their genetic. But a judge should also be friendly in the ring to the people, because the dog is the men best friend ever.

Everything has a start…. Silvia’s is where 2 Whippets were a good friend of hers… 11 years old, knowledge zero about sight dogs…. They trained them, and both has been coursing champions! This was her cynologic start in a big love to it, to be honest, a never ending love. Then, she started to be dog handler. Her first litter was born in 1983, from this litter of Beagles comes out 2 Champions and the very successful story goes on and on. They produced over 85 Champions, internationals, nationals and so on. Out of our breed Royal Touch came Worldwinner, Juniorworldwinner, Veteranworldwinner and many more. They started in working class after hunting proofs. 2016 the first puppies of miniature Schnauzers black and silver where born, out of this litter…… 2 Multichampions! And the story still goes on……

But this is only one part of Silvia’s engagement in the dog world, she also worked for many years in a Vet-clinic and grooming salon. All this was not enough, she wanted to know more about history, anatomic and science of dogs. Starting with judgement was her always loved breed Beagle, then Special judgements for Bloodhounds, Otterhounds, Bassethounds, Basset Griffon Vandéen petit and Grand, Basset Bleu de Gascogne, Artesien Normand, Basenjis, all Schnauzerbreeds, Pinschers and Continental Bulldogs. The first whole group was the Group 2 and then, Group 6…She is still learning.

To judge it is a honor full responsibility. Fit for function should always be a reason to look a dog better twice than one time. Otherwise, should a dog be the one, for what he was made…… and he must remain that what he ever will be…… the men’s best friend. Consider this as judge and as a private person.
