Salina, Loredana

Loredana owned, bred, and handled Newfoundland dogs under prefix ‘Fairweather’s’.

In 1996, she got her first Newfoundland "Ch. And I’m Great To Be Back – Bruce". He became very famous representative of the breed, not only because of his multiple Best in Show and being the very first Newfoundland to win the Working Group in Crufts, in show history. But also, thanks to his many successful children around the world, as well as earning the titte of ROM in US.

Her own breeding "Ch. Fairweather’s A Great Pretender – Sam" who followed his uncle's paw prints in the show rings by gaining 16 Champion titles and also proved his value in breeding. One of the highlights on Sam's show career was him winning Best of Breed at the World Dog Show in Milano in year 2000 being only 15 months old.

Besides Bruce and Sam, Loredana had the honour to own many memorable and notable Newfies: One of her fondest show memories is when Simon, a son of Sam, represented Switzerland at Eukanuba World Challenge in Long Beach, Florida, USA in 2009. Newfoundland have not only left their paw prints in her heart, but also to Newfie lines even these days. It is heartwarming to see their greatgreatgrandchildren to carry on the beautiful legacy of the ‘Fairweather’s’Newfoundland dogs.

Additionally to these legendary Newfies, Loredana has bred several champions and winners, from numerous different countries; among them many International Champions, World Champions and BIS Winners. I loved showing and handling my own dogs in the show rings.

In 2016, she qualified as an FCI judge, starting with Pyrenean Mountain Dog and Pyrenean Mastiff followed by Leonberger, English Bulldogs and naturally her own breed the Newfoundland. She is now an FCI Group 2 judge.

Loredana judges in Italian, German, French and English. She had the privilege to judge in France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Serbia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and of course my home ountry Switzerland.

She loves to judge the FCI Group 2 because of the wide variety of the breeds.  She always tries to see a dogs as a whole picture without picking on the small details. The main goal of dog judging is to promote the breeding of healthy and sound dogs.
